Who charged you
The company that took your payment — the merchant of record — is the one on your receipt and card statement. It can be the airline, hotel or rental company itself, or a travel agency that sold the booking on its behalf (merchant of record).

If a charge looks unfamiliar
Compare dates and totals
Match the charge date and total with your booking confirmations, remembering that currency conversion can change the amount slightly.
Look up the merchant name
Statement names can be abbreviated or show an agency or payment processor instead of the brand you booked with.
Contact the merchant
Ask the merchant to explain the charge, quoting the date, total and any reference on the statement.
Talk to your bank if needed
If the merchant can’t explain it or you didn’t authorise it, contact your bank or card issuer, which handles disputes.
Common reasons a charge differs from what you expected
- Currency conversion by your bank, or a conversion offered at checkout.
- A card foreign-transaction fee charged by your bank.
- Separate charges for extras such as bags or seats, or a deposit or pre-authorisation for a hotel or car.
- A booking split into parts charged by different companies.
Only the merchant can confirm what a charge was for (prices and currencies).
Keep your card safe
Never send card numbers, security codes or one-time codes by email or chat — not to us, and not to anyone claiming to help with a booking. Use the provider’s own payment page (spotting scams).
Common questions
I don’t recognise a charge. What should I do?
Match the merchant name on your statement to your booking confirmations, then contact that merchant. AMZBooking never charges travellers, so a charge from a travel booking comes from the provider or agency you paid.
Should I send AMZBooking my password, sign-in code or card number?
No. Never send us passwords, one-time codes, full payment-card numbers or card security codes; for a payment problem with a booking, contact the provider that took the payment.
Which currency will I be charged in?
The provider you book with decides, and shows the charging currency at checkout. If it differs from your card’s currency, your bank may convert it and add its own fee, so check both before you pay.
