Where couples should stay

Ibiza Town

The island's capital combines Dalt Vila, the walled upper town with the cathedral and museums, and La Marina and Sa Penya below it, a harbour quarter of fishermen's houses, boutiques, bars and restaurants. Pacha is across the harbour, ferries leave for Formentera, and Talamanca and Platja d'en Bossa beaches are a short bus or boat ride away.

Good
Historic sights and the best restaurants; Central bus and ferry hub; Lively evenings in La Marina
Watch out
Very expensive in July and August; No beach in the old town itself
Nearby
Dalt Vila, La Marina, Puig des Molins, Formentera ferry port

Romantic day trips

  • Formentera (About 30 minutes by fast ferry) — The smallest inhabited Balearic island has long white-sand beaches such as Ses Illetes and Llevant, inside the Ses Salines Natural Park, with turquoise water over Posidonia meadows.
  • Espalmador (About 30–45 minutes by boat) — An uninhabited islet between Ibiza and Formentera with a white-sand beach, S'Alga, and crystal-clear water.
  • Santa Agnès de Corona (About 30 minutes by car) — A tiny village on a plateau in the north-west surrounded by terraces of almond, carob and fig trees, which turn white with almond blossom in late winter.

For dinner

Share local specialities such as Bullit de peix, Sofrit pagès and Ensalada payesa. Many restaurants close from November to March, especially in Sant Antoni and the beach resorts.
