Getting to the beaches

  • Bus — Island buses connect Ibiza Town, Sant Antoni, Santa Eulària, Platja d'en Bossa and the airport, with extra summer routes to many beaches and late-night services to the main clubs.
  • Ferry — Fast ferries run from Ibiza Town to La Savina on Formentera in about 30 minutes, and water taxis link Ibiza Town with Talamanca and Platja d'en Bossa.
  • Boat — Excursion boats from Sant Antoni serve Cala Bassa, Cala Comte and other west-coast beaches, and from Santa Eulària they serve east-coast coves and the Wednesday market at Es Canar.
  • Car — A hire car gives access to the island's coves, villages and sunset spots; book early for summer and expect scarce parking at popular beaches.
  • Scooter — Scooters are popular for short trips between beaches; wear a helmet and take care on narrow country roads.

Beach-weather months

Days of 24°C (75°F) or more with no more than nine rainy days come in June–October. The busiest of those is July, so book early.

Beach safety

Theft from bags and cars, pickpocketing in clubs and drink spiking are the most common issues, so watch your belongings and your drink. Use only licensed taxis. In summer, beware of strong sun and dehydration, rough paths to coves such as Atlantis, and currents at exposed beaches; check flag warnings. Swim at lifeguarded beaches where possible and follow local flag warnings.
