Money-saving tips
- Buy club tickets online in advance; door prices are often much higher.
- Visit in May, June or late September for lower prices with the clubs still open.
- Stay in Sant Antoni or Es Canar for better-value accommodation than Ibiza Town.
- Eat inland or choose the menú del día rather than beach-club restaurants.
- Sunsets at Cala Comte, Cala d'Hort and the rocks of Sant Antoni cost nothing.
- Use island buses and excursion boats rather than taxis, which are expensive and scarce in summer.
Free things to do
- Dalt Vila — Ibiza's walled old town crowns the hill above the harbour, enclosed by 16th-century Renaissance fortifications with seven bastions.
- Es Vedrà and Cala d'Hort — Es Vedrà is a dramatic limestone islet about 400 metres high rising from the sea off the south-west coast, surrounded by legends and protected as a nature reserve.
- Cala Comte — A series of small sandy and rocky coves on the west coast with shallow, strikingly turquoise water and low islets offshore.
- La Marina and Sa Penya — The harbour quarter below Dalt Vila has narrow streets of boutiques, white-cotton fashion shops, bars and restaurants, and the old fishermen's district of Sa Penya on its rocky point.
- Torre des Savinar — An 18th-century watchtower, also called the Pirate Tower, built to warn of raids, stands on the cliffs above Es Vedrà.
- Ses Salines Natural Park — The southern tip of Ibiza is a protected landscape of salt pans, dunes, pine woods and two of the island's best beaches, Ses Salines and Es Cavallet.

Getting around for less
Ibiza is small: about 40 km from end to end, with Ibiza Town, Sant Antoni and Santa Eulària linked by frequent buses. Remote coves, inland villages and the north coast are much easier by car or scooter, and boats link the main resorts with nearby beaches and Formentera.
