What to drink
- Fresh-squeezed juice — The Antalya plain is a major citrus and pomegranate growing area, and fresh orange and pomegranate juice is pressed to order at stands across the city.
- Turkish tea — Strong black tea served in small tulip-shaped glasses, with sugar cubes on the side. It is offered in shops, drunk at every meal and sold by the glass in tea gardens.
Evenings through the year
Sunset and the overnight low decide how long the outdoor part of a night lasts. July has the warmest evenings, with lows around 22°C (72°F).

Getting home late
- Tram — Buy an Antalyakart transport card, which also works on city buses.
- Bus — City buses run to Konyaaltı, Lara, the Düden waterfalls and residential districts, and intercity coaches from the otogar reach Side, Kemer, Olympos and beyond.
- Taxi — Make sure the meter is running, or agree a fixed price for longer trips before setting off.
- Walking — Kaleiçi, the Clock Tower, Karaalioğlu Park and the old harbour are all within a 15-minute walk; the old town's lanes are steep in places.
Late-night bites
- Gözleme — Village restaurants on the roads to Termessos and Kemer, and weekly markets.
Staying safe at night
Antalya is generally relaxed for visitors. The main risks are summer heat and sunburn, strong currents on windy days, and overcharging by touts, unofficial guides and taxis that avoid the meter. Keep an eye on valuables on busy beaches and in the bazaar.

Kaleiçi
Kaleiçi is Antalya's historic quarter, bounded by Hadrian's Gate, the Clock Tower and the cliffs above the old harbour. Its narrow lanes hold small hotels in restored wooden-bay-windowed houses, courtyard restaurants and bars, plus the Yivli Minaret and the Broken Minaret. Mermerli Beach and harbour boat trips are on foot, and the tram along Atatürk and Cumhuriyet avenues passes the main gate.
- Good
- Atmospheric, walkable historic base; Wide range of small hotels; Restaurants and bars on the doorstep
- Watch out
- Steep, cobbled lanes; Some bar streets are noisy at night; No sandy beach inside the walls
- Nearby
- Hadrian's Gate, Yivli Minaret, Old Harbour, Karaalioğlu Park
