Getting around Antalya
Public transport, passes, airport connections and when a car makes sense.

Quick answer
Kaleiçi and the city centre are walkable, and trams, buses and dolmuş minibuses connect the beaches, the bus station and the airport. Most ancient sites and resort towns are easiest by hire car, taxi or organised tour, though intercity buses reach Side, Kemer and Olympos. Not for Kaleiçi and the city beaches, which are covered by tram, bus and taxi.

Ways to get around
Tram
The AntRay light-rail lines link the intercity bus station (otogar), the city centre and the airport, and a nostalgic tram runs along the seafront avenues from near Zerdalilik past Kaleiçi to the Antalya Museum.
Buy an Antalyakart transport card, which also works on city buses.
Bus
City buses run to Konyaaltı, Lara, the Düden waterfalls and residential districts, and intercity coaches from the otogar reach Side, Kemer, Olympos and beyond.
Taxi
Yellow taxis are metered and plentiful; they are the easiest way to reach Lara, Perge or the Upper Düden falls.
Make sure the meter is running, or agree a fixed price for longer trips before setting off.
Car
A hire car makes it easy to combine Perge, Aspendos and Side, or Termessos and Phaselis, in a day, and coastal roads are good. Parking near Kaleiçi is limited.
Walking
Kaleiçi, the Clock Tower, Karaalioğlu Park and the old harbour are all within a 15-minute walk; the old town's lanes are steep in places.
Boat
Tour boats from the old harbour run trips to the Lower Düden Waterfall and bays along the coast, from one hour to a full day.
Tickets and passes
Antalyakart
A rechargeable transport card used on trams and city buses; sold at kiosks and machines at main stops.
Müzekart
Turkey's museum pass, sold in versions for foreign visitors, covering state museums and sites such as the Antalya Museum, Perge and Aspendos; worth comparing with single tickets if you plan many sites.
From the airport
Antalya Airport (AYT) is about 13 km north-east of Kaleiçi. A taxi takes about 25 minutes to the old town, and the tram connects the airport with the city centre and the bus station. Most resort hotels in Lara, Belek, Kemer and Side offer pre-booked transfers.
