Day by day

  1. Day 1: Grace Bay Beach and Bight Reef (Coral Gardens)

Grace Bay Beach, Bight Reef (Coral Gardens), Smith's Reef and Chalk Sound National Park, then Island Fish Fry at Bight Park in the evening.

    1. Morning

      Grace Bay Beach

The water is part of Princess Alexandra National Park, and public access paths between the resorts let anyone use the beach.

    2. Late morning

      Bight Reef (Coral Gardens)

The water is shallow and usually calm, making it one of the easiest snorkelling spots in the islands.

    3. Lunch

      Lunch: Conch salad

Beachside shacks in Blue Hills and restaurants across Provo, and the Island Fish Fry.

    4. Afternoon

      Smith's Reef

Entry is from small beach access points along the road, and markers guide snorkellers along the reef.

    5. Late afternoon

      Chalk Sound National Park

Kayaks and paddleboards are the way to explore, and there is no swimming beach in the sound itself.

    6. Evening

Island Fish Fry at Bight Park

Arrive early in the evening for the shortest food queues, and bring cash for the stalls.

  2. Day 2: Sapodilla Bay and Sapodilla Hill rock carvings

Sapodilla Bay, Sapodilla Hill rock carvings, Taylor Bay and Long Bay Beach, then Sunset sail in the evening.

    1. Morning

      Sapodilla Bay

Boats anchor offshore and the water stays calm when the north shore is windy.

    2. Late morning

      Sapodilla Hill rock carvings

A short, rocky path leads up from the beach to the carvings and a view over the bay.

    3. Lunch

      Lunch: Cracked conch

Most local restaurants and beach bars on Provo and Grand Turk.

    4. Afternoon

      Taylor Bay

It is quieter than Sapodilla and ideal for toddlers.

    5. Late afternoon

      Long Bay Beach

Several kite schools offer lessons, and the beach is quiet away from the kite area.

    6. Evening

      Sunset sail

Sunset catamaran and sailboat cruises from Leeward and Turtle Cove sail along the reef with drinks as the sun goes down.

If it rains

  • Swap in Turks and Caicos National Museum (Grand Turk): Combine it with a walk along Front Street's colonial buildings and the old salt ponds on a Grand Turk day trip.

Pace and daylight

The sights in this plan add up to roughly 19–25 hours of visiting over 2 days, before meals and getting between them. Daylight runs from about 10.8 hours in December to 13.5 hours in June.

Getting between stops: Car. Renting a car is the most flexible way to reach Chalk Sound, Taylor Bay, Long Bay and Blue Hills; driving is on the left, though many cars are left-hand drive.
