Day by day
Day 1: The Pitons and Sulphur Springs
The Pitons, Sulphur Springs, Sugar Beach and Gros Piton hike, then Gros Islet Friday street party in the evening.
Morning
The Pitons
Together with the surrounding reefs they form the Pitons Management Area World Heritage Site, and they are visible from much of the southwest coast.
Late morning
Sulphur Springs
Downstream, warm mud and mineral pools let you coat yourself in volcanic mud and rinse off.
Lunch
Lunch: Green fig and saltfish
Local restaurants and cafés, especially for breakfast and lunch, and the food section of Castries market.
Afternoon
Sugar Beach
It fronts a resort, but the beach itself is accessible to the public, and water taxis from Soufrière stop here.
Late afternoon
Gros Piton hike
Most fit hikers reach the summit in about two to two-and-a-half hours, with views over Petit Piton and the coast from the top.
Evening
Gros Islet Friday street party
Every Friday night, the streets of Gros Islet fill with sound systems, grills and drink stalls — the island's best-known party.
Day 2: Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens and Tet Paul Nature Trail
Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens, Tet Paul Nature Trail, Anse Chastanet and Toraille Waterfall, then Rodney Bay strip in the evening.
Morning
Diamond Falls Botanical Gardens
Restored mineral baths, originally built in the 18th century, can be used for a small extra fee.
Late morning
Tet Paul Nature Trail
It is a far easier alternative to hiking Gros Piton for the views.
Lunch
Lunch: Bouyon
Local eateries and roadside cook-shops, often as a Saturday lunch.
Afternoon
Anse Chastanet
A dive centre runs shore dives and snorkel tours, and coral, turtles and reef fish are close to the beach.
Late afternoon
Toraille Waterfall
You can stand under the falls for a cool natural shower.
Evening
Rodney Bay strip
Bars, restaurants and a few clubs around the marina and Reduit Beach, open most nights.
If it rains
- Swap in Castries Central Market (Castries and Vigie): Go on a Saturday morning, the busiest market day, and avoid cruise-ship hours if you want a calmer visit.
