Posillipo
Posillipo is a green, affluent ridge along the coast with villas, gardens and rocky swimming spots such as Marechiaro and the Gaiola underwater park. Parco Virgiliano has views towards Procida and Capri. It is the place for sea air and summer swimming, but buses or taxis are needed to reach the centre.

Getting to the beaches
- Metro — Metro Line 1 links Piazza Garibaldi (central station), Università, Municipio, Toledo, Dante, the Archaeological Museum and Vomero, with several stations decorated as 'Art Stations'.
- Train — The Circumvesuviana suburban railway runs from Porta Nolana and Garibaldi to Ercolano, Pompei Scavi and Sorrento; trains are basic and often crowded.
- Ferry — Ferries and fast hydrofoils leave Molo Beverello and Calata Porta di Massa for Capri, Ischia, Procida and Sorrento, with more frequent services in summer.
Beach-weather months
Days of 24°C (75°F) or more with no more than nine rainy days come in June–September. None of them is peak season, so beaches stay manageable.
Beach safety
Pickpocketing and bag-snatching are the main risks, especially around Piazza Garibaldi, on buses and on the Circumvesuviana. Traffic is chaotic, so cross roads carefully, and keep phones out of reach on busy streets. Swim at lifeguarded beaches where possible and follow local flag warnings.
