Al Hamra and the Corniche

Al Hamra lines the central Corniche, with large hotels, waterside promenades and the best views of King Fahd's Fountain. It is about 15 minutes by car from Al-Balad and well placed for evening walks, the open-air sculptures and the Fakieh Aquarium.

Good
Sea and fountain views; Easy evening promenades; Between Al-Balad and the north
Watch out
Few places to walk to beyond the seafront; Traffic on the Corniche road
Nearby

Romantic day trips

  • Taif (About 2–3 hours by car) — At about 1,800 metres in the Sarawat mountains, Taif is noticeably cooler than Jeddah.

For dinner

Share local specialities such as Saleeg, Sayadiyah and Grilled Red Sea fish. Many restaurants have family sections with partitioned seating alongside open seating.
