Getting home late
- Walking — Everything inside the walls is within a ten-minute walk, though side lanes climb steep stairways.
- Bus — Buy a day ticket if you are staying in Lapad or Babin Kuk and will ride back and forth.
- Taxi — Ride-hailing is often cheaper than street taxis for airport trips.
Late-night bites
- Arancini (candied orange peel) — Souvenir food shops and stalls in the Old Town and at the Gruž market.
- Pršut and Pag cheese — Wine bars and konobas everywhere; order a platter with a glass of local wine.
Staying safe at night
Dubrovnik has low levels of street crime, but heat exhaustion on the walls, slippery polished limestone and steep rocks by the sea cause more problems for visitors. Wear water shoes on rocky beaches because of sea urchins, and keep valuables close in crowded lanes.
