What to drink
- Kumquat liqueur and sweets — Kumquats, introduced to Corfu during the British period and grown mainly around Nymfes in the north, are made into a bright orange liqueur, glacé fruits and marmalade.
- Ginger beer — A lemony, non-alcoholic ginger beer brewed in Corfu since British rule in the 19th century, served cold.

Getting home late
- Bus — Long-distance services are less frequent on Sundays and outside summer.
- Walking — Corfu Town's old town is best explored on foot, and the Corfu Trail runs about 220 km from the south of the island to the north.
- Taxi — Taxis wait at ranks in Corfu Town, the port and the airport; fares to distant resorts can be high, so agree or check the price before setting off.
- Ferry — Ferries from Corfu's New Port cross to Igoumenitsa on the mainland, to Saranda in Albania and to Italian ports, and boats run to Paxos.
Late-night bites
- Nouboulo — Delicatessens in Corfu Town and as part of meze platters in tavernas.
Staying safe at night
Corfu is relaxed for visitors. The main risks are summer heat, sunburn, steep and winding roads (especially on scooters and quad bikes) and pickpocketing in crowded old-town lanes at peak times. Some west-coast beaches have strong waves on windy days.
