What to drink
- Armenian brandy — Brandy (often called konyak locally) aged in oak, made in Yerevan since the 19th century. Older vintages are smooth and aromatic.
- Armenian wine — Armenia's winemaking history goes back thousands of years, and the Areni grape makes distinctive reds. Pomegranate and apricot fruit wines are also common.

Getting home late
- Walking — Most central sights are within walking distance, along wide avenues and through the Ring Park around the centre.
- Metro — A single metro line links the centre with outer districts, with stations at Republic Square, Yeritasardakan and Marshal Baghramyan.
- Ride-hailing — Use an app rather than hailing street taxis to avoid overcharging.
- Bus — Buses and minibuses cover the city, and marshrutkas run to Garni, Sevan and Dilijan; fares are low and paid on board.
Late-night bites
- Basturma — Restaurants and markets, including the GUM Market.
Staying safe at night
Yerevan is generally relaxed for visitors. The main risks are fast traffic, summer heat and occasional overcharging by street taxis. Use ride-hailing apps, cross roads carefully and carry water in summer.
