Quick answer
Lithuanians are reserved with strangers but warm once you are introduced, and they take national history seriously: independence was restored in 1990 after five decades of Soviet occupation. Catholic traditions shape the calendar, from the St Casimir's Fair in March to All Saints' Day candles in cemeteries, and basketball is close to a national religion. English is widely spoken by younger people.
