Day by day

  1. Day 1: Little Venice and Kato Mili windmills

Little Venice, Kato Mili windmills and Panagia Paraportiani, then Paradise and Super Paradise beaches in the evening.

    1. Morning

      Little Venice

Find a seat by 6pm in July or August for sunset, or watch from the rocks below the windmills for free. (1–2 hours, free).

    2. Late morning

      Kato Mili windmills

Visit early in the morning for photos without crowds, or at golden hour from the Little Venice side. (30 minutes, free).

    3. Lunch

      Lunch: Kopanisti

Traditional tavernas in Chora and Ano Mera; delicatessens sell it in tubs.

    4. Afternoon

      Panagia Paraportiani

Combine it with Little Venice, a two-minute walk away, and visit at sunset when the walls glow. (20 minutes, free).

    5. Evening

      Paradise and Super Paradise beaches

Take a sea taxi from Platis Gialos instead of driving; parking is scarce in July and August.

  2. Day 2: Delos and Archaeological Museum of Mykonos

Delos, Archaeological Museum of Mykonos and Aegean Maritime Museum, then Chora's lanes and Matoyianni street in the evening.

    1. Morning

      Delos

Take an early boat, bring water and a hat, and climb Mount Kynthos for the view over the ruins; there is very little shade. (Half a day, mid-priced).

    2. Late morning

      Archaeological Museum of Mykonos

Visit before Delos to understand the island's history, or on a windy day when boats are cancelled. (45 minutes, low cost).

    3. Lunch

      Lunch: Louza

Taverna meze platters and local delicatessens.

    4. Afternoon

      Aegean Maritime Museum

Children who like boats enjoy the ship models; it is a good stop during the heat of the day. (45 minutes, low cost).

    5. Evening

      Chora's lanes and Matoyianni street

Get deliberately lost in the early morning, when lanes are empty and freshly whitewashed steps catch the light.

  3. Day 3: Armenistis Lighthouse and Ano Mera and Panagia Tourliani Monastery

Armenistis Lighthouse, Ano Mera and Panagia Tourliani Monastery and Platis Gialos and Psarou, then Little Venice in the evening.

    1. Morning

      Armenistis Lighthouse

Drive or ride up before sunset and bring a drink; there are no facilities at the lighthouse. (1 hour, free).

    2. Late morning

Ano Mera and Panagia Tourliani Monastery

Visit in the late morning, then stay for a long taverna lunch on the square. (2 hours, free).

    3. Lunch

      Lunch: Mostra

Tavernas and beach restaurants across the island.

    4. Afternoon

      Platis Gialos and Psarou

Swim at Platis Gialos for easy family facilities, then walk over the headland to see the scene at Psarou. (Half a day, mid-priced).

    5. Evening

      Little Venice

Sunset cocktail bars right on the water.

  4. Day 4: Day trip to Tinos

About 20–35 minutes by ferry each way. Getting there: Ferry from Mykonos New Port.

    1. Morning

      Travel to Tinos

About 20–35 minutes by ferry (Ferry from Mykonos New Port); about 20 km.

    2. Day

      Tinos

A quieter neighbouring island known for the pilgrimage Church of Panagia Evangelistria, marble-carving villages such as Pyrgos and over a thousand ornate dovecotes in the countryside. Best for culture, quiet stays and food lovers.

    3. Evening

      Back in Mykonos

      Dinner: try Mykonian onion pie.

  5. Day 5: Agios Sostis and Ftelia

Agios Sostis, Ftelia and Agios Ioannis beach, then Chora's lanes in the evening.

    1. Morning

      Agios Sostis

Bring an umbrella and water, and come on a day when the meltemi wind is light. (Half a day, free).

    2. Late morning

      Ftelia

Watch the windsurfers from the beach on windy days, or swim when the wind drops in the morning. (2–3 hours, free).

    3. Lunch

      Lunch: Mykonian onion pie

Traditional tavernas, especially in Ano Mera and around Chora's back streets.

    4. Afternoon

      Agios Ioannis beach

Stay for sunset; it is one of the few beaches where the sun drops into the sea opposite you. (Half a day, low cost).

    5. Evening

      Chora's lanes

Bars and clubs around Matoyianni and the harbour, including LGBTQ+ venues, busy until dawn in summer.

Before you go

Reserve timed tickets for Delos before you travel; the rest of this plan needs no advance booking.

Where to stay for this itinerary

With 5 nights, Mykonos Town (Chora) keeps most of this route within easy reach. For a calmer or cheaper base, Ornos ($$$) suits families, beach and couples. Compare every area.

Pace and daylight

The sights in this plan add up to roughly 24–32 hours of visiting over 5 days, before meals and getting between them. Daylight runs from about 9.6 hours in December to 14.7 hours in June, so in winter start early and keep museums for the afternoon.
