Nightlife tips

- Indonesia's drug laws are very strict, including on the Gilis.
- Respect local norms in villages and around mosques, and keep noise down late at night outside party areas.

Evenings through the year
Sunset and the overnight low decide how long the outdoor part of a night lasts. October has the warmest evenings, with lows around 23°C (73°F).
| Month | Sunset (15th) | Overnight low | Rainy days |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | About 18:41 | 24°C (75°F) | 19 |

Getting home late
- Taxi — Metered Blue Bird taxis operate from the airport and around Mataram and Senggigi; ride-hailing apps work in parts of the island.
- Walking — Each Gili can be walked around in one to two hours; horse carts (cidomo) also operate, though many visitors avoid them on animal-welfare grounds.
Late-night bites
- Sate rembiga — Satay stalls in the Rembiga area of Mataram, near the old airport.
- Sate bulayak — Stalls around Narmada and Lingsar east of Mataram, and on the road at Senggigi.
Staying safe at night
The main risks are natural ones: strong currents at some south-coast beaches and between the Gilis, scooter accidents on winding roads and steep, exposed sections of the Rinjani trek, where climbers should use licensed guides. Lombok lies in an active seismic zone, so note your accommodation's emergency information.
