Getting home late
- Tram — Buy fares and day passes on the GoPass app rather than at machines.
- Tram — The vintage M-Line trolley runs free along McKinney Avenue between the Arts District and Uptown, and the Dallas Streetcar links Union Station with the Bishop Arts District.
- Ride-hailing — Uber and Lyft are widely used and often the quickest way between neighbourhoods such as Lower Greenville, Bishop Arts and the Design District.
Late-night bites
- Corny dog — Fletcher's stands at the State Fair of Texas each autumn; corn dogs are sold at stadiums and fairs year-round.
- Street tacos — Taquerías in Oak Cliff, especially around Jefferson Boulevard, and food trucks citywide.
Staying safe at night
Summer heat is the main hazard, so carry water and avoid long midday walks. Spring storms can bring hail and tornado warnings, so take local alerts seriously. Car break-ins are common; leave nothing visible in parked cars.
- Emergency number
- 911 (police, fire, ambulance)
