Nightlife tips
- Walking back to Tunnel Mountain hotels at night means passing wildlife habitat; take a taxi or the bus after dark.
- Après-ski at the resorts starts as the lifts close and moves into town in the evening.
- Bring photo ID; Alberta's legal drinking age is 18 and bars check.
What to drink
- Caesar — Canada's clam-tomato vodka cocktail, created in Calgary, is the standard après-ski and brunch drink.
- Local craft beer — Banff and Canmore have breweries pouring ales and lagers named after local peaks and trails.

Staying safe at night
The main risks are wildlife encounters, sudden mountain weather and driving on busy highways where people stop for animals. Carry bear spray, keep your distance from elk and bears, and check trail reports and avalanche conditions before heading out.
