What to drink
- Sapporo Classic beer — A lager brewed and sold only in Hokkaido, a staple in izakaya and convenience-store fridges across the island.
- Japanese whisky from Yoichi — Nikka's Yoichi distillery, about an hour away, makes peated single malt whisky, served in many Niseko bars.

Getting home late
- Bus — Check the current season's shuttle timetable at your accommodation; evening services are less frequent.
- Taxi — Book taxis in advance for dinner reservations during the busiest weeks.
- Walking — Within Hirafu village you can walk between hotels, restaurants and lifts, though streets are steep and icy in winter.
Late-night bites
- Hokkaido potatoes — Roadside stations such as Niseko View Plaza, izakaya and winter food stalls.
Staying safe at night
The main risks are mountain ones: avalanches and tree wells off-piste, frostbite in wind on the upper lifts and slips on icy streets. Follow the Niseko Local Rules, use the official gates only and ski off-piste with a guide and avalanche gear.
