Best things to do with kids
Experience · Hanazono
1.Hanazono
Hanazono's slopes on the north-east side of the mountain are known for gladed tree runs, terrain parks and a calmer atmosphere than Hirafu. The resort also runs a large children's ski school and summer activities such as rafting and a zip line.
Head to Hanazono's tree zones on windy days, when they are more sheltered than the open upper bowls.

3.Hangetsu Lake
A small crescent-shaped lake at the foot of Mount Yōtei, near the Kutchan trailhead, circled by an easy forest path with views up to the volcano. It is a gentle alternative for those not climbing Yōtei itself.
Walk the loop in the morning, when the water is calmer and Yōtei is more likely to be clear of cloud.

Park · Kyōgoku
4.Fukidashi Park
In Kyōgoku, at the eastern foot of Mount Yōtei, snowmelt that has filtered through the volcano for decades gushes out as cold, clear spring water. Locals fill bottles at the spring, and walkways and bridges cross the streams.
Bring an empty bottle to fill with the spring water, and combine the visit with a drive around the base of Yōtei.
