Getting home late
- Ferry — Scheduled ferries and speedboats connect Ao Nang, Krabi Town and Phi Phi, Lanta and Phuket, with less frequent service in the rainy season.
- Bus — Shared songthaews run between Ao Nang, Noppharat Thara and Krabi Town throughout the day, stopping on request along the main road.
- Ride-hailing — Grab operates in the Ao Nang and Krabi Town area for cars and is useful for airport transfers.
Late-night bites
- Roti — Muslim-run roti carts in Ao Nang in the evenings and breakfast shops in Krabi Town.
Staying safe at night
Rip currents are strong on west-facing beaches during the May–October monsoon, so obey red flags. Scooter accidents are common, and wading to longtails at low tide can be slippery. Monkeys at the Tiger Cave Temple and on Railay will grab food and bags.

Ao Nang
Ao Nang is Krabi's tourist hub, a long west-facing beach backed by a strip of hotels, shops, restaurants and tour agents. Longtails leave from the beach for Railay in about 15 minutes, and island trips depart daily. The beach itself is fine for sunsets but the sea can be murky; most people use it as a base for trips.

- Widest choice of hotels and restaurants; Boats to Railay and the islands; Easy airport transfers
- Watch out
- Busy main road and touristy feel; Beach is average for swimming
- Nearby
- Railay, Noppharat Thara Beach, Four Islands boats, Khao Ngon Nak trail
