Beach safety

Hoi An is relaxed, but watch for overcharging by boat operators and tailors, petty theft in crowded evening streets and motorbikes on the roads outside the car-free zone. In October and November, follow local advice during floods and storms. Swim at lifeguarded beaches where possible and follow local flag warnings.
