Getting to the beaches
- Scooter — Scooters can be rented from hotels and shops for exploring Son Tra and the coast road; traffic is calmer than in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.
- Train — Trains on the North–South line run from Da Nang station to Hue in about 2.5–3 hours, following the coast over the Hai Van Pass.
Beach-weather months
Days of 24°C (75°F) or more with no more than nine rainy days come in February–July. The busiest of those is July, so book early.
Beach safety
Da Nang is calm for a Vietnamese city, but traffic is the main hazard, and rip currents at My Khe can be dangerous from autumn to early spring, so swim near lifeguards. Check forecasts during the September–December storm season, and confirm seafood prices before ordering to avoid disputes. Swim at lifeguarded beaches where possible and follow local flag warnings.
