Dubai Marina
Around a man-made marina lined with skyscrapers, Marina Walk is a long promenade of cafés and restaurants, and dhow dinner cruises and yacht charters leave from its quays. The Dubai Tram links it to JBR beach and to the Metro's Red Line, though Downtown is 30–40 minutes away.
- Good
- Lively waterfront dining; Close to the beach; Tram and Metro links
- Watch out
- Far from old Dubai; Busy traffic at rush hour
- Nearby
- Marina Walk, JBR Beach, Bluewaters Island, Palm Jumeirah
Getting to the beaches
- Metro — The driverless Red and Green Lines are clean, air-conditioned and inexpensive, with a Gold Class carriage and a section for women and children.
- Tram — The Dubai Tram loops through Dubai Marina and JBR, connecting with the Metro and the Palm Monorail.
- Boat — Traditional abras cross Dubai Creek, and the Dubai Ferry links Al Ghubaiba, Dubai Marina and other stops along the coast.
- Bus — RTA buses reach areas the Metro does not, using the same Nol card, and many bus shelters are air-conditioned.
Beach-weather months
Days of 24°C (75°F) or more with no more than nine rainy days come in January–December. The busiest of those is January, so book early.
Beach safety
Dubai has low levels of street crime. The main risks are heat, sun and dehydration, fast traffic and strong currents at open beaches, so swim where lifeguards are on duty. Laws on drugs, including some prescription medicines, alcohol, public behaviour and photography are strict; check them before you travel. Swim at lifeguarded beaches where possible and follow local flag warnings.
