Ways to get around
Tram
Several tram lines connect the city centre, Casa-Voyageurs station, Maarif, the Corniche at Ain Diab and outlying districts.
Buy a rechargeable card at station machines and validate before boarding.
Taxi
Red petit taxis are metered and carry up to three passengers within the city; drivers often pick up other passengers on the way.
Ask for the meter ('le compteur'); white grand taxis are for longer routes.
Bus
Busway rapid bus lines and city buses supplement the tram, mainly useful for residents' routes.
Train
Casa-Voyageurs is the main station for Al Boraq high-speed trains to Rabat and Tangier and for trains to Marrakech and Fes; Casa-Port, near the medina, serves Rabat and the airport line.
Walking
Downtown, the Marché Central, the old medina and the Hassan II Mosque are linked on foot within about 30 minutes.
From the airport
Mohammed V International Airport is about 30 km south of the city. ONCF trains run from the airport station to Casa-Voyageurs and Casa-Port in about 30–40 minutes; grand taxis from the official rank take about 40–60 minutes depending on traffic.
