Cannes nightlife
Where the evenings happen in Cannes, from early drinks to late nights.
Updated By the AMZBooking editorial team
Quick answer
Cannes nightlife revolves around hotel bars, beach-club evenings and the two casinos, with a livelier, younger crowd in the bars at the foot of Le Suquet. It peaks in July, August and during festivals, and is quiet in winter. The main areas are Rue du Docteur Monod and Forville, La Croisette, Pointe Croisette and Vieux Port.

Nightlife tips
- Dress smartly for hotel bars and clubs, which may turn away beachwear and trainers.
- During the film festival many parties are invitation-only; public bars are packed and prices rise.
- The last trains along the coast leave before midnight on most nights; plan a taxi if you are staying elsewhere on the Riviera.

What to drink
- Rosé de Provence — Pale, dry rosé from the Côtes de Provence vineyards inland is the default summer drink on the Riviera, served very cold at lunch on the beach.
- Lérina and the monks' wines — The Cistercian monks of Saint-Honorat make a herbal liqueur called Lérina and a range of wines from their island vineyards, which are among the more unusual souvenirs from Cannes.
Evenings through the year
Sunset and the overnight low decide how long the outdoor part of a night lasts. July has the warmest evenings, with lows around 20°C (68°F).
| Month | Sunset (15th) | Overnight low | Rainy days |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | About 17:20 | 5°C (41°F) | 6 |
| April | About 20:15 | 10°C (50°F) | 6 |
| July | About 21:11 | 20°C (68°F) | 1 |
| October | About 18:49 | 13°C (55°F) | 6 |
Getting home late
- Walking — Walking covers almost everything in the centre; the Croisette, Rue d'Antibes and Le Suquet are all on foot, though the old town is steep.
- Bus — Buy tickets from machines or the official app; drivers may not sell them on every line.
- Ferry — Check the last return sailing before you set off; the islands have no accommodation for visitors.
- Taxi — Taxis wait at ranks by the station and the Palais and can be booked by phone; they are expensive but useful for the hills of La Californie and Le Cannet.
Late-night bites
- Socca — Stalls around Marché Forville in the morning; eat it straight from the paper while it is hot.
- Pan bagnat — Bakeries in the centre and around Marché Forville; buy one before catching the boat to the islands.
- Pissaladière — Bakeries and market stalls; a good choice for a picnic on Île Sainte-Marguerite.
Staying safe at night
Cannes is generally calm, but bag and phone theft happens on crowded beaches, the Croisette and at the station in summer, and cars with visible luggage are targeted. Summer heat can be intense, so carry water on island walks.
