Quick answer
Cabo San Lucas has one of Mexico's liveliest resort nightlife scenes, concentrated in a few blocks downtown and on Médano Beach. It ranges from beach-club sunsets and marina cocktail bars to party bars that keep going until the early morning, especially in spring break and winter high season. The main areas are Downtown bar strip, Médano Beach clubs, Marina boardwalk and San José del Cabo.

What to drink
- Damiana — An herbal liqueur made from the damiana shrub that grows wild in Baja California Sur, sold in a bottle shaped like a woman's figure. Locals use it in place of triple sec in margaritas.
- Baja California wine — Most Mexican wine comes from the Valle de Guadalupe in northern Baja, and Los Cabos restaurants pour its reds and whites widely, from Nebbiolo and Tempranillo to blends.
Evenings through the year
Sunset and the overnight low decide how long the outdoor part of a night lasts. July has the warmest evenings, with lows around 24°C (75°F).
| Month | Sunset (15th) | Overnight low | Rainy days |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | About 17:55 | 15°C (59°F) | 1 |
| April | About 18:40 | 17°C (63°F) | 0 |
| July | About 19:08 | 24°C (75°F) | 1 |
| October | About 17:54 | 22°C (72°F) | 2 |
Getting home late
- Walking — The marina boardwalk, downtown bars and Médano Beach are within about 20 minutes' walk of each other; distances elsewhere are too long and hot to walk.
- Bus — Have small peso coins or notes; drivers rarely change large notes.
- Taxi — Taxis are plentiful but unmetered and expensive by Mexican standards; fares are set by zone and should be agreed before you get in.
- Ride-hailing — Ride-hailing apps operate in Los Cabos and are often cheaper than taxis, though availability varies at the airport and some hotel entrances.
Late-night bites
- Baja-style fish tacos — Taco stands and small taquerías in the downtown grid back from the marina, around Calle Morelos and Avenida Leona Vicario, are cheaper and better than the boardwalk.
Staying safe at night
Many beaches, especially those facing the Pacific, have strong currents and shore breaks; swim only where locals do and respect red flags. Timeshare sellers at the airport and on the marina can be persistent, and late-night bar areas call for the usual care with drinks and taxis.

Marina and Downtown
The streets between the marina and Avenida Lázaro Cárdenas hold most of Cabo's bars, taquerías and shops, plus Plaza Amelia Wilkes and the parish church a few blocks inland. The marina boardwalk is the departure point for whale-watching, fishing and Land's End boats, so staying here keeps everything on foot.
- Good
- Walk to boats, bars and restaurants; More mid-priced hotels than the corridor; Cheap taco stands a few blocks inland
- Watch out
- Noisy late at night near the bar strip; No beach on the doorstep; Persistent timeshare and tour sellers
- Nearby
- Marina boardwalk, Plaza Amelia Wilkes, Médano Beach
