What to drink
- Somerset cider — Somerset is England's best-known cider county, producing dry, still farmhouse ciders and sparkling craft versions from local apple varieties.
- Spa water — The warm, mineral-rich water of the hot springs, once drunk as a cure by Georgian visitors. It tastes strongly of iron and is an acquired taste.
Evenings through the year
Sunset and the overnight low decide how long the outdoor part of a night lasts. July has the warmest evenings, with lows around 13°C (55°F).

Getting home late
- Walking — The Abbey, Roman Baths, Pulteney Bridge and Milsom Street are within five minutes of each other; the Circus and Royal Crescent are 10–15 minutes uphill.
- Bus — Local buses run from the bus station next to Bath Spa station to Prior Park, the universities and outlying villages, and Park and Ride buses link edge-of-town car parks with the centre.
- Taxi — Taxis wait at the rank outside Bath Spa station and can be booked by phone or app; useful for Prior Park or late trains.
Late-night bites
- Bath bun — Bakeries and tearooms around the Abbey and the Pump Room.
- Bath Oliver biscuits — Delis and cheese shops, and on cheese boards in local restaurants.
- Cream tea — The Pump Room restaurant beside the Roman Baths and tearooms across the centre.
Staying safe at night
Bath is generally low-risk for visitors. Pickpockets occasionally target crowds at the Christmas Market and around the Abbey in summer, and the steep stone pavements on the hills are slippery in rain or frost.
