Key findings
- 1
2 airports share the longest recorded runway, 5,000 m (16,404 ft): RKZ, ULY.
How we calculated this: Maximum OurAirports runway length (open runways) across dataset airports.
- 2
105 airports have a runway of 4,000 m (13,123 ft) or longer.
How we calculated this: Count of dataset airports whose longest open runway is ≥ 4,000 m.
- 3
China has 6 of the 20 longest, more than any other country.
How we calculated this: Count by country among the 20 airports with the longest runways.

Methodology
- Scope: airports with scheduled passenger service and an IATA code, classified large or medium in OurAirports (retrieved 2026-10-18).
- Measure: the length of the longest runway OurAirports lists as open for each airport; closed runways are excluded.
- Ties keep alphabetical order of the IATA code.
Limitations
- Recorded length is the physical runway; the distance usable for take-off or landing can be shorter.
- OurAirports runway data is community-maintained and may lag construction or closures.
