Day by day
Day 1: Old Jaffa and Jaffa Port
Old Jaffa, Jaffa Port, Jaffa Flea Market (Shuk HaPishpeshim) and Carmel Market, then Rothschild Boulevard in the evening.
Morning
Old Jaffa
Climb to HaPisga Garden and the Wishing Bridge about an hour before sunset, then walk down to the port for dinner. Allow 2–3 hours.
Late morning
Jaffa Port
Combine it with Old Jaffa: walk down the steps from the hill and finish with grilled fish on the quay. Allow 1–2 hours.
Lunch
Lunch: Hummus
Long-established counters in Jaffa and around Carmel Market; go for lunch rather than dinner.
Afternoon
Jaffa Flea Market (Shuk HaPishpeshim)
Come in the late morning for the stalls and stay into the evening when the bars open. Allow 1–2 hours.
Late afternoon
Carmel Market
Arrive mid-morning on a weekday for fewer crowds, and continue into the Yemenite Quarter for lunch. Allow 1–2 hours.
Evening
Rothschild Boulevard
Rent a bike or e-scooter from a nearby dock and ride the central lane from Habima Square down to Neve Tzedek.
Before you go
If it rains
- Swap in Tel Aviv Museum of Art (Rothschild and the city centre): Allow time for the Israeli art galleries, which are rarely seen outside the country.
- Swap in ANU – Museum of the Jewish People (Ramat Aviv): Combine it with the Eretz Israel Museum, a short walk away in Ramat Aviv.
- Swap in Eretz Israel Museum (Ramat Aviv): The open-air grounds suit children who need space between galleries.
Where to stay for this itinerary
$$$ · Best for first-timers, nightlife, food lovers and solo travellers
Rothschild and the city centre
Tree-lined boulevard, Bauhaus blocks, cafés and cocktail bars
Pace and daylight
The sights in this plan add up to roughly 6–10 hours of visiting over one day, before meals and getting between them. Daylight runs from about 10.1 hours in December to 14.2 hours in June, so in winter start early and keep museums for the afternoon.
Getting between stops: Walking. Jaffa to the Port is about 6 km along the seafront promenade, and Rothschild Boulevard, Carmel Market and Neve Tzedek are all within 15 minutes of each other on foot.
