Quick answer

Las Vegas nightlife runs around the clock: casino lounges, nightclubs with big-name DJs, daytime pool parties in summer and the bars of Downtown's Fremont East. Many venues serve alcohol at any hour, and the drinking age is 21. The main areas are Center Strip, Fremont East, Pool clubs and Arts District.

Nightlife tips

  • Nightclubs have dress codes and cover charges that vary by night and event; guest lists or table bookings help at weekends.

  • Use rideshare or the Deuce between areas late at night rather than driving.

What to drink

  • Frozen cocktails in a yard glass — Tall plastic 'yard' cups of frozen margaritas and daiquiris are carried up and down the Strip; drinking on the street is allowed on the Strip and Fremont Street, with rules on glass containers.

Evenings through the year

Sunset and the overnight low decide how long the outdoor part of a night lasts. July has the warmest evenings, with lows around 26°C (79°F).

Getting home late

  • Walking — In summer, walk through air-conditioned resorts and shopping arcades rather than along the sidewalk, and carry water.
  • Tram — A free tram links Mandalay Bay, Luxor and Excalibur at the South Strip.
  • Bus — Buy passes in the rideRTC app before boarding.
  • Ride-hailing — Rideshares and taxis pick up from designated zones at each resort, usually near the main entrance or the parking garage.

Late-night bites

  • Adobada tacos — Taquerias across the city, including branches on the Strip and near Downtown.
  • Secret Pizza — The third floor of The Cosmopolitan.

Staying safe at night

The main risks are heat and dehydration: drink water constantly, avoid midday hikes in summer and never leave children or pets in parked cars. On the Strip and Fremont Street, watch for pickpockets in crowds and ignore people handing out cards or offering deals. Keep track of drinks and spending in casinos.
