Quick answer
Most visitors move between Nadi, Denarau and the islands by fast catamaran, seaplane or helicopter, and along Viti Levu's coastal roads by taxi, transfer bus or rental car. Domestic flights from Nadi and Suva reach Taveuni, Vanua Levu, Kadavu and Ovalau. No for island resorts, where everything is by boat.

Ways to get around
Ferry
High-speed catamarans from Port Denarau serve the Mamanuca resorts several times a day and run the length of the Yasawa chain daily, dropping passengers at resorts by small boat.
Island-hopping passes for the Yasawas can save money if you plan several stops.
Boat
Water taxis, resort transfer boats and seaplanes link Denarau with individual islands; seaplanes give a fast, scenic transfer to the Mamanucas.
Bus
Local buses with open windows run along the Queens Road (south) and Kings Road (north) around Viti Levu, and express coaches link Nadi and Suva via the Coral Coast.
Taxi
Taxis are plentiful in Nadi, Denarau and Suva; check the meter is running or agree a fare before longer trips.
Car
Rental cars suit the Coral Coast and day trips on Viti Levu; Fiji drives on the left, and roads have speed humps through villages and loose animals.
Avoid driving at night on rural roads.
From the airport
Nadi International Airport (NAN) is about 9 km north of Nadi town and about 20 minutes by taxi or transfer from Denarau; Coral Coast resorts are about one to two hours by road. Nausori Airport (SUV), near Suva, handles mainly domestic and some regional flights.
Do you need a car?
No for island resorts, where everything is by boat. A rental car is useful on Viti Levu for the Coral Coast, Sigatoka and Pacific Harbour, though taxis and resort transfers also cover these.
