About Grossmünster
The twin-towered Romanesque church, begun around 1100, is where Huldrych Zwingli launched the Swiss Reformation in 1519. Its plain interior has stained-glass windows by Augusto Giacometti and agate-and-glass windows by Sigmar Polke, and the Karlsturm tower can be climbed for a view over the rooftops and the lake.
Tip: Climb the tower for the best view of the Limmat bends, then look at the crypt and the bronze doors on the way out.
