Days 1–3: Amsterdam
Canal rings, Golden Age art, brown cafés and a city made for bikes
Amsterdam's 17th-century canal ring, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, curves around a compact medieval centre where almost everything is within a 30-minute walk or a short tram ride.
- See: Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank House, Canal Ring walk, Canal cruise and The Jordaan
- Eat: Stroopwafel and Raw herring
- Stay: Canal Ring (Grachtengordel) — Gabled merchants' houses along the Herengracht, Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht
Days 4–5: The Hague
About 53 km from Amsterdam.
The Hague is the Dutch seat of government and royal city, home to the King's working palace, international courts in the Peace Palace and dozens of embassies, while Amsterdam remains the capital.
- See: Mauritshuis, Hofvijver and Binnenhof, Kunstmuseum Den Haag and Escher in Het Paleis
- Eat: Raw herring and Kibbeling
- Stay: Centrum and the Hofvijver — Government buildings, the Mauritshuis and terraces on the Plein and Grote Markt
Days 6–7: Rotterdam
About 20 km from The Hague.
Rotterdam's centre was largely destroyed by bombing in May 1940, and the city chose to rebuild in a modern way rather than recreate what was lost.
- See: Markthal, Cube Houses and Oude Haven, Erasmus Bridge and Euromast
- Eat: Kibbeling and Raw herring
- Stay: Centrum — Shopping streets, Rotterdam Centraal and the Markthal around Coolsingel and Blaak

What 7 days in Netherlands costs
Estimated spend per person on the ground, excluding flights, from the daily ranges in our destination research. Prices change; treat these as planning figures.
| Stop | Days | Budget | Mid-range | Luxury |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amsterdam | 3 | $270–$420 | $660–$1,080 | $1,500–$3,600 |
| The Hague | 2 | $160–$260 | $340–$600 | $760–$1,700 |

| Total | 7 | $590–$940 | $1,340–$2,280 | $3,060–$7,100 |
Amsterdam is the priciest stop (expensive for international visitors) and The Hague the least expensive (moderately priced), so a longer stay in The Hague stretches the budget.
