Meeting people

  • Lechon lunch — Order a plate of lechon with puso and a bowl of soup at one of the city's lechon restaurants, or buy by the kilo at Carcar's market.
  • Night at Larsian — Choose raw skewers at the Larsian stalls, have them grilled, and eat at shared tables with puso and vinegar.
  • Cebu IT Park — Restaurants, bars and late-night eateries popular with the city's young workforce.
  • Mango Avenue — General Maxilom Avenue's long-running strip of bars and clubs.

Sensible precautions

Petty theft and phone snatching occur in crowded downtown Cebu City, so keep valuables secure. At sea, use licensed boat operators with life jackets and check weather warnings; typhoons and storms can cancel ferries. Canyoneering should only be done with registered guides and safety gear.

911 (national emergency hotline)
Staying connected
Globe and Smart prepaid SIMs and eSIMs are sold at the airport; SIM registration with ID is required. Coverage is weaker on small islands.
