Before you go
- Gateway Arch: Tram tickets often sell out on summer weekends and holidays; buy timed tickets online in advance.
If it rains
- Swap in Saint Louis Art Museum (Forest Park): Visit the German Expressionist galleries for the Beckmanns, then walk down Art Hill to the Grand Basin.
- Swap in Missouri History Museum (Forest Park): Start with the 1904 World's Fair gallery to understand Forest Park before exploring the rest of the park.
- Swap in Saint Louis Science Center (Forest Park): Head to the bridge over Interstate 64 for the radar guns, then catch a planetarium show.

The Arch, Busch Stadium and the Washington Avenue loft district
Pace and daylight
The sights in this plan add up to roughly 11–14 hours of visiting over one day, before meals and getting between them. Daylight runs from about 9.5 hours in December to 14.8 hours in June, so in winter start early and keep museums for the afternoon.
Getting between stops: Tram. MetroLink's Red Line runs from the airport through Forest Park, the Central West End and downtown to Illinois; the Blue Line connects Clayton and Forest Park with downtown.
