Food and drink to take home

Edible souvenirs travel best when they are dry or sealed: consider Bolo do caco, Milho frito, Poncha and Madeira wine. Snack bars, roadside stalls and restaurants across the island, often brought to the table as a starter. Check your home country's rules on bringing food and drink back.

  • Supermarkets sell Madeira wine and bolo de mel at lower prices than souvenir shops.
